In March 2019 Charlie was diagnosed with stage 4 liver cancer. The cancer had spread so quickly, and to other parts of his body, that his diagnosis was terminal. Charlie passed away peacefully with his family at his side less than 2 weeks later. 

 After his passing, a memorial fund was created in his name.

 

Charlie Karp Memorial Fund 

Fairfield County's Community Foundation

The Charlie Karp Memorial Fund was established at Fairfield County's Community Foundation.  FCCF is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization that administers this charitable fund.   The Fund's mission is to identify and showcase a promising singer, musician, songwriter, or composer between the ages of 12-28, studying or residing in Ct  Candidates are asked to submit an electronic audition to a Participating Partner listed below.  (does not need to be professionally produced.)

 

The recipient will receive $ 1,000 cash prize, professional career mentoring and guidance by industry professionals, a featured appearance in Westport's Levitt Pavilion for the Performing Arts summer concerts series, and professional recording of their work at Carriage House Studio in Stamford and /or Horizon Music Studio in West Haven. Participating Partners accepting electronic auditions include:
